This morning we met with Alex and Mckenzie Weis at Rooted Flower Company. They started their company about a year and a half ago and have taught themselves how to do many things over that time. McKenzie is an AHS grad and once their family moved back to the area they followed a dream and opened the flower company. By day they are both teachers in the Austin Public Schools, so they keep very busy! They offer many opportunities to experience their location: you pick events, flower subscriptions, photography opportunities, and private events. They are unique in that you pick your own flowers and they are all locally grown right here in Austin starting in their basement!

Their advice to the students:
- Knowing your why is everything!
- You should be able to be passionate about what you do and tell people about why you love what you do.
- Know your why, what are you doing, and how it serves people.
- There is always competition, but everyone has a spot.
- It is important to look at what you offer in your business and how to make that grow
- You need to put your blinders on sometimes. You need to find out what your true north is for your business and your values. You can be distracted by things around you and competition, but if you are achieving what you set out to do that is your success.

Thank you for a fantastic visit!
